Dog Friendly Atlanta

Checking In: Renaissance Atlanta Midtown

One of the biggest problems we face when traveling with Kendall is that we can’t leave her in the room and we’re forced to plan our days around her, meaning we can miss out on some of the “bigger attractions” of the places we visit – that was until we found Renaissance Hotels. The Renaissance Atlanta Midtown, owned by Marriott, has everything you would expect from a big name and then even more so in the area of “dog friendly.” From the moment we pulled up the valet, Kendall is treated like a guest just like us with everyone petting her and even talking to her – just like us crazy dog owners do when we think no one is looking – be honest you do it too.

This was a special trip to Atlanta Midtown for us in that we got to share the experience with y’all on the hotels Instagram – if you missed it don’t worry, you can see all our Insta photos by clicking this link. The exciting thing for us about the takeover was that we got to share with everyone why we love this hotel and why we keep coming back and making special trips to the city just to stay with Renaissance Atlanta Midtown.

Dog Friendly Atlanta

So what makes a good dog friendly hotel? In my opinion it’s one that understands you want to both include your dog but don’t necessary want to spend 24/7 with them on your holiday and here in Atlanta we always find the perfect mix. While dogs aren’t aloud in the restaurant – they are allowed outside – and the staff is more than accommodating to set up a table outside for you on request, not only that they brought Kendall a little scoop of peanut butter to keep her busy while we enjoyed our coffee. And if we want to enjoy cocktails on their rooftop garden or take a trip to see the Ferris wheel we know Kendall is in safe hands.

Side note: the very first time we stayed there, we went out to the zoo and I got a call from the hotel saying they needed to get into the room for maintenance but not to worry about Kendall, they were comfortable with dogs. When we got back to the hotel they informed us that not only did they fix the issue in our room but they went even played with her in the room with one of the toys we had brought and did I mind they gave her a treat from her bag. Needless to say, they were all gems, they fixed a non-urgent issue ASAP and showed Kendall some love.

We might love this hotel because of their welcoming attitude towards Kendall but we also love it for all the amenities that take your holiday to the next level – a jet bath, fluffy duvets, rooftop bar and valet parking – you have everything you need for a stress free vacation. But it’s the fitness centre that’s a game changer for us because we both get to start our day on the right foot and can both do exactly what we want; there’s plenty of weights and machines for Rich and yoga mats and a barre for me – it’s a win win.

If the above alone wasn’t reason enough to keep coming back, the area of Midtown is so cute – according to Rich if we moved back to the States we’d live there. There’s any number of great cafes, restaurants and parks all within walking distance. I’ll be sharing a few of my favourite places further down the line but if you’re planning your trip now you can’t skip Piedmont Park, especially if travelling with your four legged kids.

    1. They are one of my favourite dog friendly hotels we’ve ever been too, we always find excuses to go back and stay again because it’s such an easy and stress free trip with Kendall.
