Impulse Buying & Floral Skirts for Spring

Ever see something hanging up in the store and just think ‘I’m in love, I need to have it – I don’t care about the occasion’ because well that’s exactly what happened.

We were meant to be looking for bridesmaid dresses but with floral prints covering the store for spring, I knew that was going to be a long shot. Every printed skirt and dress we passed I was pulling of the rack and looking for my size, touching the light airy fabrics of spring, slowing putting each one back because ‘that’s not why we came,’ until I saw one skirt in particular that made me change my mind.

Did I need another skirt? No. Did I want another skirt? Yes. It was essentially as simple as that in the end. Did they have my size? Yep. Did the high-low look okay even though I’m short? Yep! Sold.

If the skirt was the impulse buy, then the shirt to match was just plain gluttonous. I knew I would have something to match hidden somewhere in my closet but I was determined to satisfy my blush loving heart with a shirt equally as fitting for spring as the floral print before me. I wasn’t disappointed.

It’s a funny phrase, ‘impulse buy,’ you can’t use it very often because then it just wouldn’t be true – and for the most part I like to think I don’t overuse it. In fact, the last time I bought any clothes whatsoever was January, so I guess in a way I deserved it? Ha! Maybe not deserved it, more like it was inevitable.

Did I really need a new fancy outfit I would only wear a few times a year at best – no, probably not – but did it make me feel like a princess to get all dressed and twirl around – definitely.

At the end of the day that’s what fashion should be about right? A good impulse buy that makes you feel like a princess, a million bucks and I don’t know even helps you convince your better half to dress up too and have a date night for no reason other than ‘I have a new outfit.’

Have you made an impulse buy lately that was ‘just because’? If so, what was it? Have you used it? Worn it? Make a special day for it like I did? Tell me the story below!

My skirt was a Coast Debenhams Exclusive – but you can shop it online here

Unfortunately my shirt was on sale and I can’t find it online but have no fear I linked some other blush tops that would work and a few more floral skirts because I can’t help myself – oh and my shoes, duh!
