2015 was a wonderful year, I got to move to London, attend Westminster for my degree, found a job which I truly love and most importantly after 2 years of back and forth long distance Rich and I finally got to move in together and start a new chapter in our relationship. The end 2015 brought me a newborn niece and news of a new nephew in the new year. 2015 brought a lot of happiness, love and personal growth. But what did I set out to achieve this year…
Last January I decided to really challenge myself with my resolutions. I wanted to allow myself to be more creative and not get so caught up in all the day to day stresses and anxiety that comes with studying for a Master’s. I wanted to write more love letters, both to my family and strangers. I aimed to take more pictures both for myself and for the blog, which brings me to my big resolution: blogging regularly. Other resolutions included healthy eating, lots of reading, throwing parties and finally graduating with honours.
So the ultimate question, did I actually achieve any of these things I set out to do?
Let’s start with the biggest one, graduation. Sadly, I don’t know yet because I haven’t actually finished my assignments but regardless of my grade I know that I busted my butt this year and tried my ultimate hardest while juggling a million other things. (but I’m still keeping my fingers crossed)
Blogging, was this regular? I don’t know if I would say regular considering I went a few weeks without having a single thing to say or simply the time to say it but I did manage to post 131 times this year. Seeing that number I don’t even really care how “regular” it was because that is an achievement to me. Not only have I maintained this blog but I’ve guest wrote for University of Westminster’s International Blog on 15 posts since March. I mark that down as a personal success.
Was this year creative? It wasn’t for a long time, it was difficult when I first moved to London to find my creative outlet. I was surrounded by school and books and the struggle of finding a job, however these last 6 months have been a complete 180, I found a job which allows me a wonderful creative outlet. These last 6 months I’ve redesigned websites, created both in print and digital marketing designs, I’ve staged photoshoots and gained a lot of my creative confidence back along with gaining practical business knowledge.
Although I could put a positive spin on all my 2015 resolutions, this is the time to be honest and there is large room for improvement in 2016 and even a few repeat resolutions.
So what are my top 5 goals for 2016?
1. Keep Blogging (because hey, it’s fun) and,
2. Stay Creative (everyone loves more photos).
3. Healthy Living (this is more of an overall couple goal, more on this throughout the year) and,
4. Embrace being Domestic (I love to cook, bake, organise, the whole nine yards but I often put that side myself on the back burner but not this year).
And the big goal?
5. Move House! (after a year in our current place we’re ready for something new, bigger and brighter)
Cheers to 2016 my darlings. 🍾💋
