Our Favourite Two Player Games

It’s no secret we love board games, it’s be featured in a number of posts and on our Instagram, so I thought it’s about time I shared some of our favourite two player games. Including board games, card games and video games!

Disclaimer: serious gaming might cause shouting and wine being spilled.Β

Our Favourite Board Games

  • Mr. Jack
There’s a reason this game shows up on every internet search for two player games – it’s great! Took us a while to track one down and when it came all the rules were in French so we had to find an English pdf, but we got there in the end. Easy to pick up and don’t need a ton of focus so wine is acceptable.
  • Scotland Yard
Wine is less acceptable for this game as it normally gets heated. Had similarities to Mr Jack but on a much larger scale. If you blink in this game you’ll lose. I suck at it but still want to play all the time because I’m determined to win.
  • 221b Baker Street
A fun Sherlock Holmes game, not really designed for two players but it’s easy enough to make due. Also a fair bit of concentration is needed to remember the clues. Oddly enough I’m fairly good at this game but yet Rich always wants to play.
  • Battleship
If only you knew the saga we went through to get this game because Rich had it in his head to have the ‘retro’ version. Only to find out it’s just the outer box that’s retro not the game. Cult classic for a reason.

Our Favourite Card Games

  • UNO
If you know us well, you’ll know we don’t go anywhere without Uno. I normally keep a pack in my bag for impromptu games at the pub or even on the Canadian/America border when they wouldn’t let Rich into the country. But that’s another story…

Our Favourite Games on Xbox

  • Death Squared
Some days I get it, some days I’m like what is happening. Why are these little cube things mocking me. Fun one or two player game though.
  • Rocket League
I’m horrible but I have fun. It’s basically football with cars and instead of tackles it’s crashes. I never know where the ball actually is though so I’m the enforcer while I kindly leave all the scoring and defending to Rich. Worst teammate award goes to me!
  • Beach Buggy Racing
He wins every time. I’m generally not very good at Xbox but I try. And I crash a lot. He laughs, I drink more wine. It’s a win win.

All in all I’m definitely more of a board game fan and Uno, I love Uno. Our Uno cards have a super fancy gold holder that I’m sure everyone who sees them judges but don’t care. But really if it was up to me the Xbox would not exist and I’m secretly planning for it go missing…or brake, I haven’t decided. But if I never see or hear about Fifa ever again it was be TOO SOON.
